Chica Chicks Director Keith Murphy came up with the idea whilst reading a newspaper article about the credit crunch and a headline about the rise of STDs amongst 15-25 year olds, we wanted to come up with something that would be both fashionable, funky, practical, useful, and of course give value for money, with previous experience in the trade, Cathy Murphy - Chica Chicks In house designer took the concept and converted it in to the Chica Chick Bag.
Chica Chick wanted to use a material that is both kind to the environment, and that would be workable for the function they wanted, they decided on 100% PU, (faux vegan leather) no animals are harmed in making of this material, and it is biodegradable in 10 years.
After researching our target market '15-25 year olds', we found out that they love 'BIG BAGS', 'NEVER ENOUGH ROOM', was one comment, and 'HANDS FREE', was another... so they can hold drinks, iPods, mobiles etc etc......
With the Credit Crunch in mind we also wanted to come up with something innovative and unique, after a few sketches later we embarked on journey never to return.
The handbags have been lovingly designed in the UK, and Chica Chick have found an ethical manufacturer in China, which is currently Joining 'SEDEX' China, and was audited by a leading brand in 2008.
The bags innovative function is that by day it is a fabulous looking shoulder bag, fitting in everything you would need in a day to day environment. But when the clock strikes 6pm and your day turns to night, so does the bag, with one swift pull of the cords at each side the bag ruches up into a fantastic looking evening grab bag, and is secured in a bow at the sides.
With all the media attention on SAFE SEX and preventing STDs and we wanted to help the young women of today, this bag carries a BIG SOCIAL MESSAGE - encouraging SAFE SEX and preventing STDs, especially when out partying, clubbing etc.
With this in mind, we decided to add some discreet items within the inner secret pockets of the bag, a pack of 3 condoms from one of our partnering companies 'fusion', just in case the need arises, you can always be protected, with Fusion Condoms. A mini toothbrush and paste, if you've been out to lunch, ideal to clean your teeth before going back to work. A deodorant, how many times have you been hot and bothered, always handy, always needed. And least but not least a panty pad, and a tampon, discreetly tucked away from all eyes in secret little pockets. Still plenty of room for other items even when the bag is scrunched up for evening!
The Patent Pending 2 in 1 Chica Chick Handbag is the first in our product range, it is available in our Bold, Funky, Patchwork designs, with the double heavily stitched detail, were sure it's going to be a hit with the young women.
